Two-tier Justice

A new nationwide hate crime awareness campaign has been launched by the government leading to what critics call a two tier justice system.

This now includes criminals motivated by hostility towards the victim’s race, religion, sexual orientation, transgender identity or disability. Age and even sub-culture clothing, such as goths or punks could be added to the definition.

It is intended to lead to stiffer sentences for crimes committed due to one of the above reasons.

Bill Etheridge MEP, Deputy Chairman of the Libertarian Party, said “Blind lady justice has had her blindfold removed.

“Will we now see left wing demonstrators all over the EU chiselling off the blindfold on her statues, or pulling them down altogether?

“All people should be treated equally under the law. Why a crime is committed is largely irrelevant, the issue is the crime itself.

“If a lesbian muslim lady with one leg is mugged, the same penalty should be applied as a white atheist gentleman. We should all be equal under the law.

“This progression into hate crime mantra is a dangerous one as the world hurtles ever closer to bringing George Orwell’s thought police to life.”
