More Tax, More Spend

In a speech in Swindon, Wiltshire, Sir Keir said freezing council tax was "a tax cut for the 99% of working people, compared with the tax cut for the richest 1% that we get under the Tories".

This was immediately refuted by his own shadow Chancellor

Pressed on whether the party would freeze council tax if it won the next general election, which has to be held before January 2025, shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves said she "won't announce any spending increases or tax cuts that aren't fully costed and fully funded".

"We'll have to see what the public finances look like going into a general election," she told BBC Radio 4's Today programme

Starmer then went on to propose ‘public’ spending. He added that there were "choices to be made", highlighting Labour's pledges to boost the number of neighbourhood police, doctors and nurses, as well as to cut business rates to help revive High Streets.

The party have already announced they will insulate 19 million homes as part of a "national mission" to reduce energy bills and make the UK more energy independent.

So the same old Labour message promising huge spending while freezing Council Tax. Government has no money of its own, it taxes, borrows and prints money. Why would anybody in their right mind vote for a party that is so economically illiterate.

The answer as far as this Party is concerned is to reduce the size of a massive overbearing State and to allow people to keep more of their own money.

"I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle." Winston S Churchill.

Starmer is dissembling, much like his disgraceful behaviour while Head of the DPP in relation to the Assange affair.

He is a grey establishment figure clawing up the greasy pole.
