Dagger to the heart of Brexit
Date: Tuesday 22nd January 2019
West Midlands MEP, Bill Etheridge, has called the Bill introduced by Yvetter Cooper, which is designed to give Parliament the right to extend Article 50, “a dagger to the heart of Brexit”.
The Bill gives the Prime Minister until February 26th to get the Plan B version of her deal through.
If she were to fail, Parliament would be able to direct what happens next.
The Bill will give Parliament a vote to prevent No Deal and vote on whether to extend A50 and for how long.
It has been backed by Conservative Remainers such as Nick Boles, Oliver Letwin and Nicky Morgan.
Mr Etheridge, also Libertarian Party UK Deputy Chairman, responded “The establishment are no longer pretending to go along with Brexit.
“This is in open defiance of the 17.4 million people who voted to Leave. It is a dagger to the heart of Brexit.
“If it succeeds, our membership could be extended indefinitely as the supposed great and the good defy democracy.
“As freedoms are eroded on a daily basis one has to ask: If the people do not have a vote, what do they have?”
